shotcat CLI · macOS and Linux

Shotcat in your terminal.
And in your coding agent.

The same templates, 3D devices and formats as the studio, from the command line. Claude Code or Codex can record your app, write the captions, check the frames and render the App Store, Google Play and social packs for you.

$ curl -fsSL https://shotcat.app/install.sh | sh

Needs Node.js 20+ · ffmpeg for renders · free previews without an account

Get started

Three commands.
Then just ask.

01

Install

One line puts shotcat in ~/.local/bin. Run it again to update.

curl -fsSL https://shotcat.app/install.sh | sh
02

Teach your agent

Copies the Shotcat skill into Claude Code and Codex, so they know the whole flow.

shotcat skill install
03

Sign in to render

Previews work without an account. Final renders use your Shotcat account and Launch Packs.

For Claude Code and Codex

Your agent knows
the whole flow.

The skill tells it how to record the simulator, trim, place taps, pick a template, write captions, look at preview frames before rendering, and ask before it publishes anything.

Questions

macOS or Linux with Node.js 20 or newer. Renders also need ffmpeg (brew install ffmpeg). The installer adds the renderer and a headless Chrome is downloaded on the first render. `shotcat doctor` checks all of it.

Previews and free exports are free, like in the studio: free exports carry a small shotcat.app tag on the device. A Launch Pack or Lifetime removes it, and the CLI uses the ones on your Shotcat account.

`shotcat skill install` adds the Shotcat skill to Claude Code and Codex. Any agent that can run shell commands can use the CLI: every command takes --json.

Run the install line again. It replaces the old version.

The project is a shotcat.json next to your recordings, and renders run on your computer. Only publishing and Catpilot send files to the server.

Install once.
